House fails to link depositor, SBY campaign team Andi Hajramurni , The Jakarta Post , Makassar, South Sulawesi | Fri, 02/12/2010 10:07 PM | National The House of Representatives inquiry committee on the Bank Century bailout failed Friday to find a solid connection between auto repair company owner Amiruddin Rustan, who is suspected to have received a disbursement of the bailout fund, with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's campaign team. Amiruddin was suspected to have donated money to Yudhoyono's campaign team as the committee members discovered a company named Rustan Consulting was listed among the donors based on the data from the General Elections Commission (KPU). "There is a donation from a company amounting to Rp 500 million [US$53,000]. We want to know if AR [Amiruddin] owns the company," committee member Akbar Faisal from the People's Conscience Party (Hanura) said. Akbar also said that based on data from the Financial Transaction Report and Analysis Center (PPATK), Amiruddin had received around Rp 4 billion of the disbursement fund from November 2008 to February 2009. Amiruddin dismissed a connection with Yudhoyono's campaign team and insisted that he had no knowledge or affiliation with Rustan Consulting. During the inquiry, the committee members also questioned the former Bank Century Makassar branch executive director, Rusdi Natsir, about the bogus investment scheme known as Antaboga securities, which had been used by the bank's former owner, Robert Tantular, to scam around Rp 1 trillion from depositors. Rusdi said sales of investment products were conducted after the branch office received an internal memo from the central office ordering branches to offer the product to the public.
