Raúl receives Mona Gamal Abdel Nasser

CUBAN President Raúl Castro received on Sunday afternoon Mona Gamal Abdel
Nasser, daughter of the eminent Egyptian leader and president of that country
from 1954 to his death in 1970.

The pleasant conversation included a recalling of President Nasser's
sympathy and solidarity toward the Cuban Revolution, his meetings with Fidel,
Che and Raúl, and the decisive contribution that he made in promoting
friendship between the Cuban and Egyptian peoples.

Raúl discussed details of her stay in Cuba with the distinguished guest,
and the history of the Cuban Revolution and the solidarity of our people with
other nations in the world.

For her part, Mrs. Mona Gamal Abdel Nasser expressed her gratitude for
the opportunity to learn about Cuban realities at first hand. She said that she
was pleasantly impressed by the places visited and the people that she had met,
and recalled the Cuban president's tribute to her father beside his grave, when
Raúl traveled to Egypt last July to attend the Non-Aligned Movement Summit.

Also present at the meeting were Havana City Historian Eusebio Leal
Spengler and Ms. Laila Abdel Hamid Gamal Abdel Nasser, the Egyptian leader's
granddaughter.
