I have Juno free for that purpose. You only get 10 hours a month for the
free package which I have never gone over but if I did I could always use my
wife's account.
The adds are a bit irritating but it is free.
Hope this helps.

Paul: I have a modem in my development computer and when the broadband
goes down I can still provide services for my customers using dial up.
I have only had to use it a couple of times, but it is valuable when needed.

In my experience if there's a fault it normally in the 'last mile'.
So your backup will probably fail too.
Just hijack someone's wireless :-)

I agree with that Paul. The only reason I would be using it is because
the provider is down. Earthlink has been great as a backup but too pricey.

Net Zero is what I was looking for. $10 cheaper than Earthlink and easy
setup. Thanks everyone.

Some broadband companies come with free dialup. You may want to check into
that.

I have my parents on copper.net and they're very happy with it. No
special software required for access which means it works with their
Ubuntu machine. ;) $9.95/month and I see that they offer a high speed
version now for $14.95/month. I'm not sure if the high speed requires a
certain OS or not
You might check netzero or peoplepc.
