Install Qt 5 libraries is not enough because the prebuilt jqt links with Qt

After further testing, I can confirm that certain demos do not work as
expected.
I certainly had not tried the multimedia Qt demo. As expected it responds
by saying:
*This demo is not supported on Linux 1.4.10/4.8.6*
webview went ahead and opened the Yahoo news page with an animated banner
Are you sure that the demo video can run on linux/Qt 4.8? What
is the name of that demo?

Thank you all for your support.
After downloading the latest Qt online.run file for linux, I could not get
the Ubuntu laucher to accept the file. I did not try to build Qt5. But I
did try out many of the Qt demos as well as Showcase demos. All worked
fine including those involving videos.
Of
Certainly linux supports playing mp4 but jqt for linux is built against an
older version of Qt (4.8) because some linux boxes out there do not support
Qt 5. This is an issue of Qt libraries only.
One can also build jqt against Qt 5.4 from source.

Oops, I was sloppy and missed that linux was involved.
Under linux you're probably at the mercy of the installed handlers for
MIME types and whatever overrides have been installed.
See https://wiki.debian.org/MimeTypesSupport (and linked pages) for
example, for the basics, then something like
Thanks Raul,
I suppose that is possible, but I would have thought that Linux would have a
way of dealing with .mp4 files. The error of not finding a multimedia control
in labsel makes me think that it is looking in the lab selection form for the
videoviewer controls. This is why I suspect a
Is there a chance that the video viewer has an OS requirement? (Like
maybe windows media player needs to be installed?)
Thanks,

Murray,
I have updated the video viewer for the labs to include an option to increase
the size of the video viewing window if you have access to a larger screen. If
you update the the video viewer from the package manager, you should see radio
buttons down the left size of the screen that
Thanks Murray,
I will look into that, but at the size of the video files downloaded I won't
guarantee that bigger would be more viewable. Also, I would be more inclined to
have the form resizable because covering the whole form with a larger video
would reduce the functionality.
If you are
Is there some way to enlarge the video viewing window?
On my 27” screen, the video is much too small for comfortable viewing.
Most every video viewer I know allows such magnification. But I don’t see any
control here to do that, and the entire surrounding window will not resize by
dragging any
Hey everybody,
For the last couple of months I have been working on creating a video version
for J labs within the jqt environment.
As a preview of coming attractions, I have made a video run through of the lab
and you can watch it here. https://youtu.be/vJ1i-XzU56E Make sure you watch it
