It seemed to stay up for a half hour or so, then progressively got
slower and slower. I'm not getting through at all now.

Unfortunately by the time I managed to get my forum scraper working, I
didn't manage to get any data off. But Drupal did stay up for a short
time - would it be possible to try this again at some point?

Thanks again for your help, Pete.

Yea, sounds like the original problem we had w/Drupal.

I got most of the data off of my Drupal site, but the rest I have to log in
to view, but when I try to log in I get a "504 Gateway Time-out" error from
nginx. If I try to do it directly through the Apache server (using port
8080 instead of 80), I get: "A database error has occured. Please try again
in a few minutes"

The stuff that I need to log in to view isn't very important, though, so
it's not a big issue for me.

Any time from 17:00 - 23:00 UTC Monday or Tuesday would work for me.
Other times over the weekend may be ok too.

I'm hoping to use a scraper to get the forum data, so it might take a
bit longer than an hour to get this tuned. If you need to limit access
to an hour, perhaps we could have a series of "happy hours" across
multiple days? I imagine we're all spread across several timezones, so
it could be tricky to find one single time that's convenient for
everyone.

Just something else I found...

Most of the data still seems to be in Google's cache (at least for me). So,
for example, typing "cache:*mp4downloader*.mozdev.org/drupal/*download*"
into Google brings up its cached version, or just typing "*download* site:*
mp4downloader*.mozdev.org" into Google and clicking on the "Cache" link next
to a result will also bring it up.

I just used this to find most of my data (everything except the most
important stuff, which you needed to be logged in to to view, so it wasn't
cached by Google).

Re: [Project_owners] drupal data loss?

2011-05-13 Thread Jake Hartz
I tried everything - disabling clean URLs, disabling pathauto, etc. and
still cannot get anything. Also, this page (Admin > Content Management >
Content) shows nothing:
http://mp4downloader.mozdev.org/drupal/admin/content/node

Is this an actual unrecoverable data loss? I had my entire site in Drupal
(with my entire future development course of action layed out, among other
important things), and now none of my pages, blog posts, or wiki pages seem
to be able to be accessed. (However, at least my one sidebar block has
survived so far...)

Also, it seems that every few minutes I get "access denied" messages and
must re-login via http://mp4downloader.mozdev.org/drupal/user. Then, after I
log in, it doesn't remember any of my data associated with my profile and
says that I have been a member for one second (as though it just created my
Drupal account just like when I logged into Drupal for the first time with
my Mozdev account). I'm not quite sure what this means - data is being
re-deleted every few minutes?

Yes, same happened to Brief. Also, it doesn't seem to be a result of a
single failure that happened at some single point, it is perpetual
problem. I initially noticed there were posts missing yesterday and
today even more are gone.

We are getting similar reports from other projects. Looks like a Drupal

Jake,

Sorry for the late response; here is fine to ask these questions, I just
hadn't got to reading the folder for a little bit.

You should be able to disable the "automatic" "Blogs" menu item and create
your own in the nav if that's what you're referring to. I believe the URLs
will still refer to that, but I'm not sure if that's as important to you.

Somehow Apache/PHP was blocking everything. After a restart of the Apache

It looks like you disabled the "User login" block that the "User login/logout
link" block controls to show the block. I've added it back in so the link
should show/hide the block again.

This seems common to Drupal; once these areas are expanded they don't collapse
so you don't accidentally change something then close it and forget about it.

This is because you enabled aggressive caching in the performance tab. In
newer Drupal setups I haven't been using the Liquid module; the only thing it
seems to provide in our current setup is an automatic "wiki" link, so you
could disable the module and add the link to the menu manually.

This "CCK Fields" module is part of the Subscriptions module. We don't have
CCK installed so it's not selectable.

Right now, it's not very easy to modify the style of Drupal pages.

I think loading a project CSS file from the Mozdev theme for Drupal is a good
idea; I've added bug#20075 to track this idea.

If there are validation errors with Drupal pages we'll need to bring them up
with the respective upstream projects after figuring out what's wrong.

Also, is the WiKi TOC generated by Drupal? I mean there is no way going
back to the main WiKi page?

I don't believe Drupal's wiki is currently setup to have a breadcrumb trail to
get you back from where you've been. A ToC is supported to give links to
headings within the same page (see Mozdev Docs [2]). Otherwise, getting back
to the "main wiki page" is typically just achieved by clicking on the "wiki"
link in the left nav bar. Maybe I'm misunderstanding your usage?

Yes, it should be possible to do exactly what you describe, you just can't
"theme" the Drupal pages right now.

You would modify whatever page is displaying your blogs right now to
"syndicate" your Drupal blog. I have some example code that I use on the
www.mozdev.org site you can take a look at [1] that should mostly work as-is
with only minor modifications (such as changing the cache directory).

Well. We want to change/control the page layout, this to match it with
our own site layout. That, apparently, might be a problem (do we really
need to developing our own Drupal theme?).

Right now changing the theming is a bit of a problem; we have a bug open about
that [1]. When we first setup Drupal the mindset was more of "it's another
tool like bugzilla," so we weren't as concerned with allowing projects to
theme it like their sites since it would definitely be completely different
from themeing their main site on Mozdev.

The easiest alternative to get your blog posts themed with your site while
using Drupal for content management would be to syndicate the blog posts on
your project page using the RSS feed; but this would still require going to
the un-themeed Drupal site for leaving/reading comments.

Thanks for doing this research; this definitely seems like something we would

I don't get any emails currently. I'd like to be notified via email whenever :

1. There is a new post in any of the forums
2. There is a new reply in any of the forums

This would prevent me from having to continually visit the forums 10 times per

To allow anonymous users to post without approval:
Goto Admin -> User Management -> Access Control
Comments Section, Check "post comments without approval" for the Anonymous
user, Click "Save permissions" at the bottom of the page.

Is the email confirmation the one that you're receiving for new users where
you need to activate them?
If that's the case, you need to go to:
Admin -> User Management -> User Settings
Under "User registration settings" set "Visitors can create accounts and no
administrator approval is required." and click "Save configuration" at the
bottom of the page.

This must be a problem with the mozdev installation profile I've put together.
I've fixed the problem for your site (and brief's, if they're reading). I'll
take a look at the installation profile before the next drupal site is setup
so this doesn't happen again.

Unfortunately, no. We're providing this tool in a single location across all
projects. If POs have a better suggestion as to what path could be, let us
know (see the previous thread for discussion).

Seems like we need alternatives, because having /drupal/ is a no go for us.
