Re: [ProofPower] Keyboard problem

It transpires that my problem was not with the laptop but
with failing to notice that the latest version of ProofPower
uses mod4/mod5 not mod3/mod4.

[ProofPower] Keyboard problem

2010-07-06 Thread Roger Bishop Jones
I have been unable to get mod3 to work on my DELL inspiron
1700 laptop.

I have .xmodmaprc as:

remove control = Control_R
remove mod1 = Alt_L
remove mod3 = ISO_Level3_Shift
remove mod4 = Super_L Hyper_L
add mod3 = Alt_L Super_L Hyper_L
add mod4 = ISO_Level3_Shift

Which leaves xmodmap reporting:

shift Shift_L (0x32), Shift_R (0x3e)
lockCaps_Lock (0x42)
control Control_L (0x25)
mod1 , Meta_L (0xcd)
mod2Num_Lock (0x4d)
mod3Alt_L (0x40), Alt_L (0xcc), Super_L (0x85),
Super_L (0xce), Hyper_L (0xcf)
mod4ISO_Level3_Shift (0x5c), Super_R (0x86),
ISO_Level3_Shift (0x6c)
mod5 , Mode_switch (0xcb)

xev tells me that Alt_L is the left hand alt key and that
Hyper_L is the windows key to the left of Alt_L, but neither
of these acts as mod3 in Xpp.
Alt_Gr which is just right of the space bar, gives me
ISO_Level3_Shift, and does work as mod4.

Can anyone offer me any advice or ideas on getting mod3 to
work?
