Mike, Most, if not all windows programs remember (in the system registry) the last directory used by that program. But you can set your My Documents folder to a specific location such as a mapped drive. Keep in mind that if working collaboratively that all windows programs do not create lock files

you really ought to give FileBox Extender a spin (free trial) i does just what you want and is easier than setting up shortcuts (project paths change all the time for us at least) it has a recently used folder list and a favorite list it's pretty simple and unobtrusive works with most
