You are invited to have a look at them under www.nateurope.com.
By the way, do you have a name, intellasys?
Gisbert
That must limit your designs!
Bastards... Do they want to sell ICs or software? It always makes me
mad.
Both, Tony, ICs and SW. Therefore, whereever possible
Brian,
So, you agree that it's alright for these companies to recover their
investments by charging for the software tools and not just for the IC's.
When I bought into the Magnum, it was about $7K/seat with a $1.5K annual
fee. I have found Altera's support to be lacking, and I have long given
Matt,
I have read a few books on VHDL and there is a free book I got from Insight
called Essential VHDL RTL Synthesis Done Right by Sundar Rajan. This book
is perfect for the beginner and makes a great reference. The great thing
about the book is the ideas are very generic. So it does not
I am running Windows 2000 Pro. SP2 and have both the Protel 99SE and 16-bit
versions working fine using Software Mechanics WinLine NT driver. I have
had to upgrade the driver a few times due to problems with SE. Actually, SE
was the only software I had problem plotting with. The version I am
I doubt they have any kind of a trial version. I figured the price of a
new plotter was much greater than getting a driver for it. It's not like
many people are going to buy this package, so they charge accordingly. I'm
not a big XP fan, but I did do a quick search and it appears that it is
You never mention exactly what the problem is. You say it starts to plot
but it's far from useable. What does this mean?
Anyway, I am using WinLine with Protel99SE and the older 16-bit versions on
Windows 2000 Pro. I had a problem with Winline working with Protel99SE when
SE first came out.
Ros,
Did you check your version of Winline? If so, what is it?

My version of 2.03.0524 was released as 2000 came out. Have you contacted
them about a new version for XP?
2.0, I believe.
Why? What versions are necessary for XP?
Thanks,
Ros

Ros,
In your original note you said you owned WinLine. I don't understand why
you would want to buy mine. If yours is 2.0 like you say, just contact the
company and they should be able to upgrade you. If you really don't own the
original license for Winline and you only want to make a couple
Ros,
I think the price of everything is too high, except my own rates!!
If you find a free (legal) solution, post it.
Mark
I am afraid that you have made an incorrect assumption. I do not own
Winline. A friend who does have it, brought his machine over and we tried
to get my plotter going
I got it also. I had to come from this list because it's the only PCB
related listing I post on.

I guess I am not sure what you are referring to about my incorrect
assumption in my last note. If you find a free (legal) solution, post it.
is a statement. I'm sure many people would have a use for it.
Hi Mark,
You certainly jump to incorrect assumptions. I am willing to buy Winline
