Re: [PEDA] [PROTEL EDA USERS]: What's Gmin?

2001-05-07 Thread Rolf Molitor

Iris,

yes, i have seen this too.
It seems to be a bug, because the simulation results look ok.
Lets report it to Protel.
GMIN is one of the spice variables. Actually its the conductance (1/R) of
the resistors that spice places in parallel with any semiconductor p-n
junction during the simulation to avoid floating. You can change the value
under Simulation-Setup-Advanced and that may help with convergence
problems.
For further information take a look at the Protel help/manual Working with
simulations and Troubleshooting simulation problems.
For deeper information about spice simulation (and its problems) the Protel
help/manual is too tight, you will have to study addional books about
that.

Betreff: [PROTEL EDA USERS]: What's Gmin?

 Hi!

I'm doing a simulation but the Protel says it found an error and in the
file
 *.err it says:

 Note: starting Gmin stepping
 Note: One successful Gmin step
 Note: One successful Gmin step
 Note: One successful Gmin step
 Note: One successful Gmin step
 Note: One successful Gmin step
 Note: Gmin stepping completed

This message appears two times but I don't know the meaning.
If it says succesful, why is a error?
Does somebody know the meaning of Gmin?

I hope yes, thanks to everybody!!!

 Regards

 Iris Mejia

Re: [PEDA] [PROTEL EDA USERS]: What's Gmin?

2001-05-07 Thread Heart

I do a lot of simulation with large currents through MOSFET's and
particularly with reverse recovery issues there is a lot going on in a
small amount of time compared to the wavelength. When I get gmin
problems a crude way is just to increase the Points per cycle on the
Transient page. I sometimes go up to 1,000 or more. A more powerful
way to deal with it is to go to the advanced page and change the
integration method. I have pretty good results with gear 4.

Good luck.
