Re: [PEDA] Bill of Material Report Problem

2003-01-03 Thread Steve Smith
JaMi,

Yes, XTRA looks like 99SE without the simulation
servers but at that price maybe it's a full packaged
99SE reborn as a 'low cost' alternative to DXP. Since
I never use simulation anyway it would be a great buy
if Altium would ever release an SP7.

My regards,
Steve Smith

By the way did you receive Altium's End of Year mailing?
It offers Protel 99 'XTRA' for only $4995.

 Steve,

I saw that, and I couldn't quite figure out what it was.

On the one hand, it looks like a stripped down 99SE, with
 only Schematic,
PCB, and the Autorouter, but I could not make any sense out
 of their claimed
 total value of $10,085.

 What am I missing here?

They are talking about the same Schematic, PCB, and
 Autorouter as comes with
 the complete 99SE, aren't they?

[PEDA] Bill of Material Report Problem

2002-12-16 Thread Steve Smith
Hi,

I was trying to generate a Bill of Material (BOM) report
for a schematic and got:

An EAccess Violation error occurred in BOMDLL.DLL

This is not a new schematic. I had generated BOMs before
with no problems.

I have 99SE with SP6. The schematic is in a MS Access
Database format and is in one of 10 folders under the
Documents folder. As you can see there are 10 different
boards in this project and I have never seen this problem
before.

Fix-
After several try's including rebooting, and repairing the
database with no results, I created a new folder and copied
the schematic only over to the new folder. I then ran the
BOM report with no problems. I compared the .cfg in each folder
and they are identical. I then copied everything else in the
old folder to the new folder except the schematic, .cfg, and
BOM. I ran the BOM report again with no problems. I tried
the original folders schematic again and still got the error.
Any ideas on what is causing this?

Re: [PEDA] Bill of Material Report Problem

2002-12-16 Thread Brad Velander
Steve,
I had this very same problem not that long ago. The problem seems to
be something in the .cfg file. I went through umpteen re-installs and other
trials trying to solve the problem but it only went away when I deleted all
non-essential files including the .cfg file. At the time Protel had no ideas
why but they were interested in my file to investigate, I don't know if they
found anything or if tech support could interest a programmer in looking at
the issue at that time.
When you state that the old and new cfg files were the same, did you
base that on a binary comparison or a text comparison? It could be something
that doesn't show as text.

Sincerely,
Brad Velander.

Steve,
I haven't received that Protel mailing yet. Protel mailings with me
are sort of hit and miss. I commonly hear about mailings on this list but
never receive them myself even though I know Protel has all my current
contact info.

Sincerely,
Brad Velander.

 Thanks Brad,

I was doing a text comparison. After reading your note
I went back to the original folder and deleted the .cfg
file and tried again - WAHLA, it now works fine.
Obviously there was something screwed up in the .cfg
 file.
