Re: [PEDA] very large database files
I am not sure of my facts in your case but the size issue you mention is very possibly the result of failure to compress the database file (by you or others). The trick is to 'purge' the deleted files from database before compression. Re: [PEDA] very large database files
This has happened to me on two occasions. I would try doing as an earlier correspondent suggested and copy files into a new database asap. Never found out what the problem was but in the first case I started to get system exceptions and crashes. I never did recover the database and had to reload a backup and work from that. After the second occurence I was getting exceptions which stayed with the new database (although files were still usable) and didn't go away until I reinstalled Protel SP6. I suspected a corrupt dll but have no way of knowing BTW does anyone know what the repair database utility does? It didn't fix my ballooning databases and it always comes back with the repaired succesfully message even if it hasn't ! [PEDA] very large database files

to start with the obvious ... have you emptied recycle bin? performed compact database ? Re: [PEDA] very large database files
Chris, I assume that you have tried compacting the database? If so to no avail, I would suggest that you have a bad case of corruption going. I would copy everything to a fresh database ASAP. Perhaps others who work with very large databases can comment on a possible cause other than a freak accident... Re: [PEDA] very large database files
Building on the advice so far which is all valid. I would have suggested the same items in the order that they have been suggested. If it may be a corrupt database make a copy. Then use the Utility Tools (under the big down arrow) to attempt a repair on one of the databases. Note the database must be closed, not open in your Protel window. Sincerely, Brad Velander. Re: [PEDA] very large database files
Try making sure all the primitives for the components are locked. I've seen this slow down the database also. - Original Message - From: Chris Lowe [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, July 15, 2003 12:34 PM Subject: [PEDA] very large database files hello I am currently working on a derivation of a long-standing product in protel99 sp6 the product is a full length 10-12 layer pci card with a reasonable component density. all the pervious versions have had database files of around 30-45 MB depending on what extra files were in the database. this has not been a problem.
