You have identified a long time problem with Protel. I have my library
components constructed with a .designator string and an outline much as you
describe. Mine are on Mechanical 1, from days with only 4 mechanical layers.
My outlines are 4mil lines centered ten mils beyond the max

that Dave has explained. It would be a great boost to Protel if they would
implement a paired mechanical layers scheme. As boards get more dense and 2
sided assemblies the

While this change is under discussion, I'd like to add in one other

I think this has been mentioned by others, too. A keepout layer that is

This would GREATLY enhance use of the autorouter. (assuming that they
eventually fix it or adopt someone else's)
A single keep out for all layers is just not practical on
today's boards,

Am I missing something guys? With P99SE you can have keepouts on any layer
that you want, right? I thought this was the current situation, am I wrong?
Possibly you hadn't noticed? In P99SE, draw a line on any layer any

So, they fixed this in SE and I never noticed?? :))
Mr. Protel, I heartily apologize!
Brad, please confirm that this is in fact what this checkbox allows you to

Freank,
I have used the layer specific keepouts on Specta also , and the all seem

I try to creat a footprint which contains special string .designator on
