Dang. Well, sounds too intense. I like using the whole background as
an object because then I can control the fonts and background images
without all the scripting which I don't have a good handle on.

Shoot. I assume Flash can do this somehow...

Hate to be the bearer of bad news Ryan, but not really

You can attach an event listener to an area object, which you could
attempt to harness a fade, but that would require you to make a lot of
edits to the image maps.  Secondly, the entire page is one image, if
you take this approach, you're going to fade the whole bit, navigation
and all, not just the primary display image.

If you're going for this, I'd suggest breaking things out into more
standard HTML and abstract the content, (Your photos) into seperate
image files and go from there.
