It fails silently. Btw, the scriptaculous front page is comically
misrendered in Chrome as well, but this slider problem is a killer!

Well, quite few changes were made after 1.6.0, so it's not easy to
tell what the problem could be : )
Are there any errors or does it just silently fail?

If this can help,

It works fine with scriptaculous v1.8.1 and Prototype 1.6.0
but does not work with the latest scriptaculous v1.8.1 that requires
Prototype 1.6.0.2.
