Not familiar enough with Adaptive Control to know much about that particular technique, and it sounds like the prof has a special variation on it. There are lots of different techniques that could apply to rockets, which is why I'd imagine they're popular subjects for example problems in Adaptive Control. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adaptive_control Once it becomes time to get serious about rocket control, it might be good to chat about controls with Prof. Tymerski in EE.
