Re: [PSAS] Anyone up for presenting the rocket at the Engineering Week Banquet next Wednesday?

2011-02-18 Thread Andrew Greenberg
Hi Jeremy,

We've done this event in the past many times, and it's always been fun.
Chris is right, it's totally worth it. I'd volunteer, but I can't make
it that night. Why don't we try and drum up volunteers on Tuesday and
decide then?

Having the rocket and a laptop with videos is a good idea.

We've been invited to present our project at the Engineering Week

about 8pm (although I think the display might wrap up by around 6:30)

I'm not sure if this is actually an MCECS event ,but it looks like it
would be a repeat of the Engineering Discovery Showcase deal: We
display the rocket for a few hours, and in return, we get all the PR
we can generate, Kristen in Student Services donates $100 to our
Foundation account, and the event provides a free meal for the
 presenters (the post-showcase banquet).

2011-02-17 Thread Christopher Mullens
I've participated in this event before both as a student while I was in high
school and a presenter for Oregon Tech.

Its main purpose is to get high school students exited about a field in
engineering. Each student that attends is sponsored by an engineer who also
attends the event. So the target audience is two fold, practicing engineers In
the pdx area, and high schools students who are likely looking into engineering
school.

This is good event and it would be a shame to miss out on this opportunity.
Also I would think it easy to get PSU to pony up some money for display
materials. This falls directly in line with what the innovation initiative is
trying to accomplish.

I am defiantly up to attending the event but it needs to be more than just
myself. It would also be really cool to have some hardware, playing videos and
posters/displays.
