I'd say Kevin is right on the money with the 44.1 khz 16 bit advice. Assuming this chap is running through some kind of cheapo onboard chipset for sound, i've seen a few that don't go any higher than that, so although files will open, you get silence and on particularly unlucky days lock-ups too..
