Hi guys,
I am a bit confused about the inaccessibility of the plugins as from pt10. Not
everybody seems to have the same experiences.
Is it the version of pt10 or osx or something else? What's the real story?
thx,
Ronald
I thought since there has been a lot of postings lately if anybody
would like to have a conference today as per usual Thursday's that we
can all chat a bit. I believe Mike said in an earlier posting he
wouldn't have a problem with us using the same number but if Mike is
reading this please chime
Hi,
It is the new plugin format. Some plugins are still in the old RTAS Format and
others are in the new Aax Format. If you want to use only the old plugins, go
to applications / Avid/ pro tools. There, you will find an alias called AAX
plugins. Click this. Then you are in the folder, where
Hi Stefan,
rtas option goes By By in PT 11! :)
The time is now for action! :)
YMMV

Hi, I agree, but we have to go two ways: Action and workarounds, just to be
productive.
Remember, how long it took to fight the accessibility issue, as we have it at
the moment. And the control surface option will work with both plugin formats.

Dear Stefan,
Thanks for the information, but have two
questions about it.
1 when you say delete the aax plugins, only the old ones will be available.
Does this mean I will have access to all the available plugins supplied with
pro Tools but in the old format? Or am I going to have less plugins
Hi Stefan,
Ok now it's clear to me, this is very good news. Now we can use PT10 after all
with accessible plugins.
Chuck wrote btw rtas will be history in PT11. Well, that's for a later concern.
thanks again,
Ronald

Hey Nick
Well, I have pt9 running on my Mac Pro (latest model) 8gb ram, internal ssd en
external firewire etc etc. Although I am still learning in my spare time, and
for the same reason still haven't bought a control surface, all goes well,
slowly, but well. I am thinking of upgrading to pt10
Nick, believe me I asked about every store over here in the Netherlands with no
luck.
And on the second hand market they are asking terrible high prices.

Hi, Do the units you have been checking for have a copy of pro tools
shipped with them as that is probably what the main cost you are paying
for? I think you could just find the digi 003 on it's own with no
software for a lot less money. I do know other devices like the digi
003 exist that
You could always find a dealer on ebay willing to ship to the netherlands. Of
course you loos all Local Avid Support and warranty most likely. Check out the

I don't see that alias. Is that cause I downgraded back to 10.0? Is this
only in 10.2?
If this really works, then I'd be willing to try it again. Any guinepigs on
here willing to try?
Chris.

Oh, Gr'r'r'r'r'r'rate! Just the thing I needed to hear! They're already
working on v11 and haven't even gotten their crap together in 10.2, and in 11
it's gonna be gone? You know, I am very slowly beginning to get convinced to
go back to Sonar and say to hell with p t, if they keep this up.
OK, I agree with you for now, on the work arounds option, but, that really
shouldn't be up to us to fix their problems, and two, that's all great but what
about v11. If R Tass goes away, then we're screwed most likely as then those
work arounds may or may not, and probably won't work. Again,
Ronald,
I'm glad you caught that, as I a little buzzed right now from a few drinks.
LOL! I didn't even think about that, but you have a real valid point here.

This is also true, but again, I'm not seeing that alias.
I assume that's cause I have 10.0 on here nad not 10.2.
Stefan, where are the r tas plugins stored? Would it be something where we
could back them up, then somehow in p t 11 once here, we could delete the
AAX then paste those old ones
Ronald,
Do you actually try it to see if indeed this does work?

Hi Stefan,
Ok now it's
My biggest issue with PT 10 aside the accessibility, is, I've got a white
stocked 13 inch mid 2010 macbook. It's not even a macbook Pro. It's just
the standard white pollie carbon. It's a fantastic system, but I only have
2 gigs of ram. Lion takes at least 1 of that, if not more. SL wasn't

Hi, it works. I know it, because I made the change, when I had Version 10.1
Best wishes

I just attempted Stefan's suggestion, from 10.0, to 10.2. I can confirm it
doesn't work. Once I deleted the AAX plugins alias, literally every single
one of my plugins went bye bye.
Thank God I still have the 10.0 DMG around. It's not the most ideal, but at
least it still uses RTas. They
