ON another note, VO does not sometimes report the correct value while
you're changing the parameter for non-third party plugins.
One example top of my head is model parameter in mini grand.
When you interact with the parameter and move VO cursor to change the
value, it will say the value.
A couple things that have come up recently. First of all, more of a mixing
question, but when mixing vocals for example, and putting compression on
it. Should I put the compression plugin on the insert on the vocal tracks
themselves, or is it the same if I put it on the Vocal FX Aux track I
Hi Jon,
I haven't experienced this behavior myself but one thing that comes to mind…
Some people like to set the pointer to follow the VoiceOver cursor. I never
choose this option because it causes VoiceOver not to read certain things in
menus. By any chance, are you tethering the pointer to
Hi Jon,
When this happens I hit escape then try and choose the preset again But if its
being cranky I quit VoiceOver and do it again.
The first approach usually works when in a plug window and choosing plug
presets the second gets everything back to normal! :)
You should probably move up to 9.03
Hi,
You should use a controller then using VoiceOver find the parameters you want
to change and mark a hotspot and have VoiceOver monitor the hot spot.
Now grab some faders on the controller and when strike Gold :) voiceover will
announce the parameter being changed.
Make sure to document the
Hey Jon,
EQ and compression should go on the inserts. Putting them on an aux is
considered parallel processing and you run the risk of running into phase
issues. It can certainly be done but, for your purposes, the insert is the way
to go.

I agree with, that eq and compression generally want to be used as inserts,
however there is a work around like say if you wantto compress all the main
vocals the same way. instead of loading the same compressor with the same
settings on all their inserts, create a vocal send or AUX. Then
Yep, this is also a possibility but it assumes a couple of things:
1. All individual tracks are fine with no compression. This may or may not be
the case. If some of the tracks are especially dynamic, they might peek out and
disrupt the balance. It all depends on the source files, of course.
2.
GOod Point it does depend on how much they vary and eq/compressors generally
aren't very cpu intensive as i have done basic mixes like that on my Macbook
Air. But i have also treated the tracks individually with what slight eq and
slight compression was needed as well as sending them to the
I can't seem to get any VO response back in the quantise area under the
quantise input window. I am trying to set all my midi instruments to
automaticly quantise when I record them. I have it set up on a template that my
friend set up, but I would like to create a new one.
Any tips would be
