I use GarageBand I am doing what you are going to have to do. I have considered
logic but I do not believe that it would be a good fit for me. I have very
limited my experience. I am just learning I will do ProTools later.

Hey Scott to consolidate tracks "command shift 3> will consolidate clips.
Also you can go Menu edit Consolidate.
I know you can make a stereo track and split it in to mono but I don't
remember an option to do it in reverse.
