Just a general clarification on the Red Book standard: a CD can have virtually
any size gap or even no gap and it has no bearing on whether it's a Red Book
disc. The Red Book standard (and there are a couple of other standards like
Orange Book as well) requires that the CD PQ subcode
Standard CD Players can read gapless CD's although they are not Redbook
standard technically.

the thing is i can burn the CD fine if i take it to my windows machine and burn
with nero. No gaps between any track, totally gapless. But i’d like to not have
to do this. I’d like to be able to complete the whole project on the mac. How
ever. lots of options here now, so i’m sure something
If i remember correctly, if burning redbook format cd's, there will always be a
2 second gap between the first and second track. If not, a standard cd player
won't be able to read the disk. It's part of the format just like 44.1 16 bit.

Hi Steve,
First of all this is very much on topic as you half to do something with your
pt projects! :)
the part about deleting those files after burning in itunes was to keep your hd
free from "track build up" lol
Remember in itunes you can hit "command shift r" to reveal the files location
Steve,
I think you are correct. In the past I have burned just wave files but and
this is just me I found that sending them to iTunes and burning them from
iTunes has worked well. Just a thought.
Happy tracking.

Hi Steve,
You have to add a song to the library in order to add it to a playlist but two
things to consider would be that, first, you don't have to have iTunes copy the
song to your media folder and, second, you can have multiple libraries so you
won't have to clutter your personal library.
hey chuck and keith. if you make a new play list in iTunes. are you saying you
can copy wave files to it and burn them without adding them to the iTunes
library first. If so i did not know you could do this with iTunes. not bad if
it works this way.

Hi Steve,
You can do it with itunes its just a bit more moves.
What I do when I want to use itunes is to make a new playlist and copy and
paste the wav files in to that play list and burn it.
Just choose the options for the burn.
After the burn I go back and delete the files from the hd and also
Hi Keith. I’ve found iTunes good for burning something that exists in the
iTunes library. But unless i’ve got this wrong you have to add all your tracks
to the iTunes library before you can burn them. Most of what i want to burn are
wav files i’ve created here in the studio. If iTunes can do
Steve,
Maybe I am missing something here but I just burn a cd from iTunes. This has
worked well for me.

How about this. Could you maybe try Simplyburns? It's totally free, and
does wonderfully. It's not in the app store, so you'll have to Google for
it, but it's totally free, and is 100% accessible.
