Alright, I am now almost halfway through the reference guide and so far so
good. Something has me still confused though. Could you explain
where and where not exactly it is possible to set record and play ranges. The
reference guide talks a lot about rulers but I know they are not

The record and playback ranges are one in the same and it simply depends upon
whether you press the space bar alone or with the Command key. A sighted user
can set the ranges either by entering values in the counter display or by
dragging little playback markers in the ruler. The
