Steve and Byron, thank you for confirming it. Just making sure I'm not missing a setting. Actually I don't own a touch bar, but I work with students who do. I made a program that will let you type f1-f12 and numpad keys using fn key. fn+1,2,34 ( on number row) to f1, 2, 3, 4 fn+q,w,e,r to f5,6,7,8 fn+a,s,d,f to f9,10,11,12 fn+7,8,9 to numpad 7,8,9 fn+u,i,o to numpad 4,5,6 fn+j,k,l to numpad 1,2,3 And so on... Anyone interested in testing it? Re: Function Keys With Touch Bar: Changed From good USB type C audio interface that is accessible as I need to buy a new mac
Actually you may be right on that one, but you can iswitch it so that the TouchBar displays the function keys by default so you don’t have to press FN to get to them. That being said 1 through 4 is right above the numbers on the number row so I pretty much developed muscle memory to hit those and escape 5 and up seem to be offset by one so if you are a touch typist the finger you would normally use to hit 6 will hit 5 on the function row. Hopefully that will make it slightly less annoying. Though given how much pro tools rely on the NumPad I am surprised you are using the laptops keyboard with PT enough. > On Nov 24, 2018, at 11:25 PM, Chi Kim wrote: > > Hi, > > > Please correct me if I' wrong. Re: Function Keys With Touch Bar: Changed From good USB type C audio interface that is accessible as I need to buy a new mac
Hi, Please correct me if I' wrong. There might be a setting to change this behavior that I'm not aware of. I think you can only use fn+1,2,3,etc (on the number row) only for VoiceOver function. In other words, you can press fn+vo+2 (on the number row) to read the title of current window, but you can't press fn+2 (on the number row) to toggle slip mode in Pro Tools. You have to press fn key then find f2 key from the touch bar. Please tell me I'm wrong, because this is very annoying. Thanks, Chi On 11/20/2018 5:05 PM, Steve Martin wrote: > The 15” MacBook pros only have the touch bar, however when using voiceover > you can press the FN key to use the normal number keys as Function keys.
