RE: Pulled the trigger on the UA Apollo8P and have a question

No idea Chris. Would have expected him to put it up on a website somewhere
with instructions with regard to configuring it. Then folks could get on
and sort things out. Shall put Can's E-mail at the bottom of this message.
Anyway here's the latest for all of you:

" Hello friends,

I'm here. I moved my house to an other city and getting maried as well.
Sorry for the delay. Will help you as soon as possible. There are many new
things in the new city and workplace so need to set for my life, it takes
extra time that I planned.

Firstly, I will help to Brian to configure his device as I promised, after
that, you can send a private email.
For my records, please send your emails as soon as possible, so we can
pesify a time."

Can's E-mail address is:

Oh shoot Phil. So he's not even going to make it public, after he
demonstrated it to a bunch of us on TeamTalk?
It was very impressive and gave 100% access to the TotalMix FX application.

I hope anybody who spent good money on an RME interface, thinking
they would get access, was able to get a copy of the program from him.

Protools, Slate, waves, Sound Toys and a myriad of other plugin manufactures

Yeah if UA were only accessible. Looks like the Cleric with knobs and buttons

True. But even for the size market we represent. If the fix is relatively
simple to implement, it stands a fair chance of being done. So send emails and
mention the various DAW accessibility list serves and that people on the lists
say to avoid UA Apollo products because they are not accessible.

Shall drop him a note in a couple of weeks and see if I can persuade him to
put it up somewhere so that everyone can get access to it.

Can you point me to where one can get a copy of this OSC application for
windows accessibility?
This is why stuff like the Arturia AudioFuse and the PreSonus Quantum is
promising. All the routing is done in the DAW as the latency is low enough
now that we won't need stuff like the total mix app to keep latency down.
Of course in the case of stuff like the x32 or other mixers with fx and
internal routing for live sound etc. OSC still makes sense if its
implemented. UAD on the other hand, if their latency figures are what they
are reporting, and their plug ins can already see which UAD cards are
installed, why not just enable the native plug ins to activate Unison from
with in the DAW and ditch the UAD console. Of course if they did that we
would still need UAD to make activating demos or purchase licenses
accessible.

same goes for when people here are asking Waves to make their UI, or
at least their license management application more accessible. Don't
forget that Voiceover isn't the only game in town. Thanks.

Implement accessibility for Mac and Windows folks you mean? Not all
blind audio professionals are using the Mac.

Another option would be to request support for OSC, Open Sound
Control protocol, similar to how RME have done with their hardware,
since we now have a utility to access that with our Windows screen
readers - hopefully soon to be ported to the Mac as well.

In the RME case, we can now fully access the hardware, the DSP, set
up all the routing etc. in RME's extensive application called TotalMix FX.

RE: Pulled the trigger on the UA Apollo8P and have a question

2017-11-23 Thread Phil Muir
Would love to but Can hasn't put it on a website anywhere. Further more, he
is about to get married so I doubt I would be able to get it for you even if
I did drop him an E-mail. I don't have it here as still using my Saffire
Liquid 56 and Pro 24 with my HSC set on Windows 10 so not required here.

Of course if they did that we
would still need UAD to make activating demos or purchase licenses
accessible.

RE: Pulled the trigger on the UA Apollo8P and have a question

2017-11-22 Thread Nathaniel Kile
Hello Chuck,

I took your advice and sent him an email. Below is a copy of my communication.

Hello Scott,

Today I picked up the UA 8P black face. I am blind and use Voice Over on the
Mack in order to interact with controls within the Mack environment. Though
Protools, Slate, waves, Sound Toys and a myriad of other plugin manufactures
are accessible with Voice Over, the UA interface is not.

To my knowledge this is not the first time this has been brought to the
attention of your company. I would like to know if any thought has been given
to helping your blind users start to be able to access the full functions and
features of this software? Myself along with many other blind engineers depend
on making a living through our project studios and hope that as we support your
company, you can find a way to try and support us.

Feel free to contact me, I would love to start this conversation. For all we
know, it may take very little to make the software interface accessible, this
would make a very significant difference for blind users. I spent the last
month going back and forth between Apogee, Focusrite and others and after
dozens of hours trying to choose a product, I spent my money with you guys.
Please afford me the opportunity to actually be able to use the great features
in this unit.

I hope that you have a great holiday season,

Re: Pulled the trigger on the UA Apollo8P and have a question

2017-11-22 Thread TheOreoMonster
Can you point me to where one can get a copy of this OSC application for
windows accessibility?
This is why stuff like the Arturia AudioFuse and the PreSonus Quantum is
promising. All the routing is done in the DAW as the latency is low enough now
that we won’t need stuff like the total mix app to keep latency down. Of
course in the case of stuff like the x32 or other mixers with fx and internal
routing for live sound etc. OSC still makes sense if its implemented. UAD on
the other hand, if their latency figures are what they are reporting, and their
plug ins can already see which UAD cards are installed, why not just enable the
native plug ins to activate Unison from with in the DAW and ditch the UAD
console. Of course if they did that we would still need UAD to make activating
demos or purchase licenses accessible.

2017-11-22 Thread TheOreoMonster
Nope. Thats how you use the unison effects, and its not accessible. You can
still “track though the plug ins” by load them on the track while recording in
your DAW, but you loose any of the unison benefits that way. Nothing other
than using the Plug in’s in the DAW is accessible with UAD’s system currently.
