Re: RMS levels

2019-08-14 Thread John André Lium-Netland
Hi,

Soon, AccessiblePeakMeter 3 will be released, it will give you audio feedback
for the following meters:
RMS SL/IL
LUFS / EBU ML/SL/IL
Peak and True Peak
Dynamic Range (DR PDR)
DialNorm

and more…

It will also have an option to set a different alarm tone for each meter if you
would like to have several active at once.

More info soon.

There is also a handy AccessiblePhaseMeter and AccesibleSpectrumAnalyser
available. I’ll post links when the update is released.

Some will not like that you have to set a threshold value for the meter, and
adjust it as needed, but I think this is a nice way to work, especially if you
have a couple of values you aim for when you master your material. If you for
example set one meter to alarm when the True Peak reaches -1dB, a different
meter to alarm when your LUFS SL reaches -10 db, a different meter to alarm
when your LUFS IL reaches -14dB, and finally a meter to alarm when you reach a
Dynamic Range DR at 6dB (these are all example values), you can switch between
the meters while working, or have a couple of them active at the same time. You
might also have one ready to alarm if you have phase issues, and a spectrum
analyser set up to easily swipe through the bands to keep an eye on the tonal
balance in your material.

Just some ideas, though.

Best,
John André

Just to add I’m really impressed with protools 19.6 and the latest Flo tools.
I’ve upgraded to mojave and i’d have to say it’s excellent. The i can now run
at lower buffer size again when recording with compressors and eq on the

Hey Steve. The Pro Compressor and Pro Limiter plugins are part of Avid’s Pro
Dynamics range. The other two plugins in the range are Pro Expander and Pro
Multi-band Dynamics, which are also indispensable. If you can swing it, I
highly recommend the Avid Complete Plugin Bundle, which includes these and a
lot of additional tools that make a huge difference. The subscription option is
super flexible. I do the yearly one for 50 USD. The Multi-band Dynamics also
has a Multi-band splitter plugin that works really well in mastering, at the
very least allowing monitoring of 4 parametric bands on aux tracks.
Indispensable is putting it lightly, and reasonably priced for their utility is
an understatement on how worth it these plugins are.

cool what is pro compressor is this a stock plug in protools or third party

Re: RMS levels

2019-08-13 Thread Michael Holmes
Hey Steve! Last I knew there was an excellent mastering demo in the PT Access
Dropbox by Slau. The R128X GUI.app in the Dropbox is great for checking bounced
file LUFS, and the Pro Limiter plugin’s Diff Listen and Input gain controls
will let you know what’s peaking above. Also, Nugen Master Check is handy. It’s
not completely accessible from what I can figure, but the meter reading the
attenuation does read by VO. This is for checking if levels will be attenuated
on streaming platforms, so it may not be what you need.

One more option I can think of is an aux routed from the main output bus to an
unused bus, with Pro Compressor in RMS mode with limiter settings, and using
Flo Tools’ gain reduction meter to check the RMS. it may be a usable workaround.

Hope something here helped!

Best,
Mike

RMS levels

2019-08-13 Thread Steve Sparrow
Hi. Doing some mastering in protools. Is there any way that we can see rMS
levels using PT. From memory i think this was not doable some time back Is this
still the case, and If so is there any spluggin or program on mac that will
give us this information.

Just to add I’m really impressed with protools 19.6 and the latest Flo tools.
I’ve upgraded to mojave and i’d have to say it’s excellent. The i can now run
at lower buffer size again when recording with compressors and eq on the
tracks. Very nice indeed.
A huge thanks from me to the flo tools team for making this version as
accessible as it is.
Cheers Steve
