The problem is that ptcl does not contain any layout information of
the stars in a system, so viewing the ptcl system visually is hard.
It would be nice if we could have Ptolemy try to layout a visual
representation of the ptcl graph, but that functionality is not
present in Ptolemy Classic. I believe the Diva package, which is used
by Ptolemy II, will attempt to layout a graph, but it would be a big
project to integrate the two.

Tycho has some hacks in it that will display a ptcl file as a tree, but
these hacks are not well supported. I believe that if you start up
tycho outside of Ptolemy, and try to open an oct facet, then oct2ptcl
is run and some sort of graph is displayed. This is probably not of
that much use to you.

To run a galaxy that contained some ptcl code, you could try creating
a galaxy that contained a TclScript start, where the script either
contained your ptcl code directly, or sourced a file that contained
your ptcl code. I'm not sure if this would work, but it is where I
would start.

I just started using ptcl (on RedHat Linux 5.1). Is there any way to look
at the a visual representation of the galaxy I'm creating from the ptcl
console (or tycho) window? I'd like to use ptcl to create a galaxy that
would then be placed in user.pal as an icon where I can use it again and
again. Am I missing something obvious or is this not possible?

    Thanks
