Re: A sameas widget for Firefox

2010-03-24 Thread Pierre-Antoine Champin
Hi all,

This is a cool stuff, indeed.

I think an interesting use case would be to dig into a link to use its
href URI instead of its text. Because let's face it, the web contains
much more links with human-readable labels than plain URIs in the body
of a page...

I'm affraid my poor knowledge of javascript does not allows me to
propose a patch, though; and my intuition is that it would significantly
more complex that this nice bookmarklet... :-/

 Hi Hugh

 Cool, thanks for this.
Ah yes, sorry - I realised it wasn't cool enough :-)
Although http://sameas.org/widget/ seems a better address than the one you
 provide below :)
But forgot I had already leaked it.

 Hi Hugh

Still brainstorming about to best integrate sameas.org http://sameas.org
 service in the
user experience, I stumbled upon the idea of a sameAs widget to add to
 my Firefox toolbar.
Scenario : I'm browsing the linked data cloud using e.g., Tabulator, and
I would like to be able to call sameas.org http://sameas.org on the fly
 for a URI selected
 in the page.

Well, I found out this simple widget would work nicely
 javascript:window.location='http://sameas.org/?uri='+window.getSelection()
 http://sameas.org/?uri=%27+window.getSelection%28%29

Which will call the sameas.org http://sameas.org service for the current
 mouse selection

Just put it as a test at
 http://pagesperso-orange.fr/universimmedia/test/sameas.html

Feel free to copy it on sameas.org http://sameas.org pages if you like
 it

 Best

 Bernard

Toolbar widget seems to work fine in Google Chrome as well (but Tabulator
doesn't, as far as I know).
