http://dev.w3.org/cvsweb/~checkout~/2006/webapi/DOM-Level-3-Events/proposals/dblclick.txt has a new proposal for dblclick and as with the revised mousehweel proposal it's more vague and lets more up to platforms and such. The text is a mess though. It should really be revised, but at least it says not more than it should say.
