Can you say what versions of PA are affected? Is it just 0.9.8 or does
it affect 0.9.7, 0.9.6 etc too?

As this is a security issue I will have to issue updates to older
distributions if this also affects older versions.

For everyone caring about -DNDEBUG, here's another patch you better
apply that actually makes the preivous patch work as expected when
combined with -DNDEBUG. I don't recommend compiling PA with -DNDEBUG,
but if you insist on this and believe that this makes everything
miraculously faster, then here you go:
