Issue #22100 has been updated by Yoann Le Touche. Status changed from Investigating to In Topic Branch Pending Review
Pull request here: https://github.com/puppetlabs/puppet-docs/pull/224 ---------------------------------------- Bug #22100: Provide note in Ruby Release Notes Warning that it only affects you if you specifically opt for ruby1.9 instead of the default https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/22100#change-98247 * Author: Bryan Quigley * Status: In Topic Branch Pending Review * Priority: Normal * Assignee: * Category: documentation * Target version: * Affected Puppet version: 3.2.1 * Keywords: Ubuntu Precise, Ruby version * Branch: ---------------------------------------- The release notes [1] seem to imply that Precise's version of Ruby won't work with Puppet 3.2. This appears to not be true unless you manually switch over to Ruby1.9.x. (or another application forces that to be installed as the default ruby). The packages in apt.puppetlabs default to pulling in Ruby 1.8 which should work fine. [1] http://docs.puppetlabs.com/puppet/3/reference/release_notes.html#puppet-320 Full text of warning: "Ruby Bug Warning: Ruby 1.9.3-p0 has bugs that cause a number of known issues with Puppet 3.2.0 and later, and you should use a different release. To the best of our knowledge, these issues were fixed in the second public release of Ruby 1.9.3 (p125), and we are positive they are resolved in p392 (which ships with Fedora 18). Unfortunately, Ubuntu Precise ships with p0 for some reason, and there’s not a lot we can do about it. If you’re using Precise, we recommend using Puppet Enterprise or installing a third-party Ruby package." -- You have received this notification because you have either subscribed to it, or are involved in it.
