The issue here is that the fact_contents query isn't projecting any columns the in clause can consume. I think either of these variants will work:
explicit subquery:
'facts { name = "no_blank_passwords" and name in fact_contents[certname]{ path ~> [".*", "result"] and value = "pass"} }'
implicit subquery:
'facts { name = "no_blank_passwords" and fact_contents { path ~> [".*", "result"] and value = "pass"} }'

I don't believe anything has changed recently in this area, so probably has been an issue for a few releases. This is a small release that includes two features: the new `summary` tag, and the ability to explicitly document the types of parameters in Puppet 4 code.Features:* The `summary` tag can be added to any code that puppet-strings supports. The recommended length limit for a summary is 140 characters. Warnings will be issued for strings longer than this limit.* Puppet 4 parameter types can now be (optionally) explicitly documented. Previously, this was not allowed because Puppet 4 parameter types can be automatically determined without extra documentation. However, users may desire to do so anyway for consistency. Strings will emit a warning if the documented type does not match the actual type. In such an event, the incorrect documented type will be ignored in favor of the real one. Note that this is purely optional - Strings will continue to automatically determine the types of Puppet 4 parameters without this documentation.Never used Strings? Please see the attached tarball. The error occurs when the "ecds" module (with hiera v5 hiera.yaml file) is present. Without the module present the command completes with the --merge flag and returns the expected data. Succeeds: puppet lookup --facts=/etc/puppetlabs/code/environments/production/facts.yaml --node bwdprdx-db501.bnaint.com --type Hash ecds::bnai::fs Fails: puppet lookup --facts=/etc/puppetlabs/code/environments/production/facts.yaml --node bwdprdx-db501.bnaint.com --type Hash --merge deep ecds::bnai::fs (facts.yaml contains the needed fact resolutions) What is really strange is that when I rename the directory that the module resides in, the error goes away. mv modules/ecds modules/test Change By: Erik Hansen
