On a side note, I think that stock puppet should be able to do that without the onyxpoint module. It was then improved to throw errors when something failed. That change also caused the plan to no longer set any facts if some nodes have failed. Whereas the user previously had no real option of failing when the plan failed, they now have no real option of continuing when the plan succeeded, as it won't have done any work. The plan should catch errors in the facts task, set facts on whichever nodes succeeded, and then propagate the error if one happened. Add Comment

I think it's still worthwhile to limit the scope of the warning via https://github.com/puppetlabs/puppet/pull/7199, at minimum. I'm going to do a little more investigation and see whether we should remove the deprecation entirely, given that there isn't really an alternative to the setting in Puppet 5. Also thanks for getting it on my radar that the CA configuration in that module will need a major update for Puppet 6. Good to know what's out there. However ca is still going away, because we removed the Ruby implementation of the CA. Configuring puppet masters to be CAs or not is a different process now involving toggling the certificate-authority trapperkeeper service in Puppet Server. However, it looks like ca is still emitting warnings when used, not just when set in the config file. That should be changed. Out of curiosity, are you actually using ca in your config file? Two other settings that are still deprecated are capass and caprivatedir. These were removed in Puppet 6 since Puppet Server's CA does not support them.
