We use puppet to manage over a dozen SELinux modules on about 2 dozen virtual machines. This means we are unnecessarily running "semodule --list" thousands of times per day. A caching system that runs once at the start, then once at the end for verification would be very nice. Let me know if beta testing will help speed things up. What happens is that puppet tries to install them on every run because it does not know they are installed. In versions of pip newer than 8.0.3 there is an "--all" flag that can be passed to pip to list them. PR is incoming to fix this, just wanted to have a jira ticket to reference . Add Comment

At the moment, Puppet will only look for translations in the production locales/ directory. Using a pre-release build of puppet-agent#master at SHA 88cc135 containing puppet at SHA c0fafbc, this issue passes manual validation.
Using the example code from the description of this ticket, the --strict parameters produce the expected warnings or error states, with warning being the default.

If you in your template instead try to lookup values in the scope you would get errors. We think EPP is a much better alternative than ERB since the use of ERB lacks guardrails. With EPP you would get the errors and warnings.
