Jira (PUP-6705) Add Sensitive type to Puppet Serialization
Title: Message Title Henrik Lindberg commented on PUP-6705 Re: Add Sensitive type to Puppet Serialization I thought more about this - and it is really more about the current implementation of Sensitive support in a Resource. We should test what happens when a Sensitive instance is inside an array (with other values), in a hash, or in an Object. I am uncertain if the current implementation does a deep recursion or not, and if it does how it discerns between the sensitive and non sensitive parts of such a structure. (Guess is that it does not do this). That means that an opt_in would make that work as it would then transport the Sensitive instance to the agent where the type/provider implementation would have to know how to use that. Jira (PUP-6705) Add Sensitive type to Puppet Serialization
Title: Message Title Henrik Lindberg commented on PUP-6705 Re: Add Sensitive type to Puppet Serialization Taken with the "rich data in catalogs" ticket they together makes it possible to alter the Sensitive implementation so that the values are serialized as Sensitive instead of like now being converted to clear text and protected by another special mechanism that was used as a work around. So, no, no user facing functionality at this point. Jira (PUP-6705) Add Sensitive type to Puppet Serialization
Title: Message Title Thomas Hallgren created an issue Puppet / PUP-6705 Add Sensitive type to Puppet Serialization Issue Type: Improvement Assignee: Unassigned Created: 2016/09/15 2:15 AM Priority: Normal Reporter: Thomas Hallgren The Puppet Serialization is not yet capable of handling the new Sensitive type. This type should be added to the serialization using a new extension code. Suggested code is 0x37 which is the first available code in the range range 0x30 - 0x7f reserved for mapping specific runtime classes. Note: Once the Sensitive type has been added to serialization, the PSensitiveType class should also be added to the file spec/shared_contexts/types_setup.rb where it is currently missing. Add Comment
