puppet query 'fact_contents[certname,value] { path = ["os","release","major"] }'
Using = seems like it should work based on the docs for fact_contents, but it does not. So, you'll have to use ~> which is not obvious.
puppet query 'fact_contents[certname,value] { path ~> ["os","release","major"] }'
