i recently picked up a terratec phase 26 USB soundcard from ebay for about £40 and it works great out of the box with jack. havn't played about with it a huge amount though (havn't needed to). http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/feb04/articles/terratecphase.htm might be some more info there ^
