[PyMOL] deleting an obejct from within a script

Hi, This must be a very obvious question, but I cant seem to find it in the docs: how can I delete an object from a given pymol session from withina script. Also, is there any way to detect whether a certain script / object is already loaded, so that I dont reload it? Thanks --
