Does anyone know of a way to reliably convince pymol to span exactly 2
video outputs in a scripted fashion on OS X for the purpose of geowall
stereo. If I use the viewport command, this causes the window to
stretch beyond the edge of the screen because of the user interface

MacOS X is a bit draconian in not allowing windows to exceed the available
screen size or to cover the menu bar. I think the best one can do is to
launch PyMOL in geowall mode with explicit window coordinates:
/Applications/MacPyMOL.app/Contents/MacOS/MacPyMOL -j -x -X 0 -Y 0 -W 2048
