Not included in that article is a thingiverse link to a print of
topoisomerase which was pointed out to me. They report using
KISSlicer to print the necessary support material.

While this insulin model was sufficiently globular to cut and
print in two halves, there are many structures that aren't. I
think the general way to go is to support print material.

Also, I've heard that recent developer versions of Slic3r are
now starting to include support material, but I haven't tried it
yet. Don't be fooled by the checkbox for including support
material in the stable version (0.7.2 I think) as it is
currently ineffective.

Maybe skeinforge, as called by replicatorg, does support
material, haven't tried it yet.

[PyMOL] 3D printing question

2012-06-17 Thread Michael Lerner
Hi all,

I just got a MakerBot Replicator, and I'd obviously like to try my hand at
printing 3D models from PyMOL. If anybody else is doing such things, are
there any recommendations for the most straightforward way to go from PyMOL
to something that repg can read? A lot of the software I'm trying to use as
intermediates between the two is proving to be troublesome.

Cheers,
-Michael
