[PyMOL] PyMOL and Suse10.0

2006-10-24 Thread Neil Ranson

Dear All,

I wrote a while ago asking for advice with PyMOL crashing a Suse10.0
graphics workstation.

I thought I'd better also report that we (eventually) traced the problem
to the graphics card itself (an nvidia 6600GT). Whilst this card
appeared totally stable within Windows, it obviously had enough of a
problem to reproducibly crash PyMOL. No idea why. This particular card
would crash suse 9.3 and 10.0, but not windows. An identical
specification card was fine under all three o/s.

So in summary, there is no inherent problem with PyMOL, Suse 10.0
x86_64, nvidia cards and even recent beta drivers to the best of my
knowledge.

Hi Neil,

what's exactly the output of pymol when it's crashing. Are you using
the nvidia or the nv driver? I had a crashing problem today too, because
the nvidia driver didn't match the nvidia-glx libs.

Best regards,
Martin
