In addition to the arm, bsd, cygwin, darwin, freebsd, linux, maemo (really?) netbsd, openbsd, posix, and windows rpython/translator/platforms, we have one called "distutils_platform" that is allegedly supposed to allow one to specify the target platform and use distutils
