[issue22922] asyncio: call_soon() should raise an exception if the event loop is closed
STINNER Victor added the comment: call_soon_after_close.diff looks good but also incomplete: call_later, call_at and run_in_executor should also raise an exception if the event loop is closed. You should also add call_soon_threadsafe to the test. So for consistency this patch should grow quite a bit (unless create_connection, add_reader etc. already raise in this case). Yes, add_reader raises an exception and there is an unit test to ensure that. create_task() is a little bit special, it does not schedule immediatly a coroutine. IMO it makes sense to fail if the loop was closed, I don't see how the task can be executed if the loop was executed, so calling create_task() on a closed loop looks like a bug. I suggest to modify the following methods: - call_soon, call_soon_threadsafe - call_at, call_later - run_in_executor - create_task - add_signal_handler - subprocess_exec, subprocess_shell Did I miss something? I'm not sure that *all* asyncio methods should must call _check_closed(), it may make the code harder to read. If the basic functions like call_soon and add_reader already handle the closed status, I guess that all other methods will fail loudly, so they don't need to be modified. For example, stop() calls call_soon() and so will also raises an exception if the loop is closed. Maybe we should add almost all methods to the test checking that calling these methods on a closed loop fail. -- ___ Python tracker rep...@bugs.python.org http://bugs.python.org/issue22922 ___ ___ Python-bugs-list mailing list Unsubscribe: https://mail.python.org/mailman/options/python-bugs-list/archive%40mail-archive.com

[issue21998] asyncio: a new self-pipe should be created in the child process after fork
Martin Richard added the comment: Hi, Actually, closing and creating a new loop in the child doesn't work either, at least on Linux. When, in the child, we call loop.close(), it performs: self.remove_reader(self._ssock) (in selector_events.py, _close_self_pipe() around line 85) Both the parent and the child still refer to the same underlying epoll structure, at that moment, and calling remove_reader() has an effect on the parent process too (which will never watch the self-pipe again). [issue22951] unexpected return from float.__repr__() for inf, -inf, nan
Terry J. Reedy added the comment: Enhancements are only possible in 3.5 or beyond. I agree with Mark. There is no compelling reason to break code with this change. Hence it should be rejected. Float is an odd duck. All ints and all non-recursive lists, for instance, have a literal representation, and repr used that. No range objects, for instance, have a literal representation, so repr uses a evaluable 'range(start, stop[, step])' All float objects except 3 have a literal representation. Int and float are both unusual builtins in parsing a string input to produce a non-string object. For int, eval(repr(i)) == int(repr(i)) == i for all ints i. Similarly, eval(repr(f)) == float(repr(f)) == f for all float objects f *except* for the same 3 special objects. For those 3, a choice was make and we should stick with it. -- nosy: +terry.reedy resolution: - rejected stage: - resolved status: open - closed versions: +Python 3.5 -Python 2.7 ___ Python tracker rep...@bugs.python.org http://bugs.python.org/issue22951 ___ ___ Python-bugs-list mailing list Unsubscribe: https://mail.python.org/mailman/options/python-bugs-list/archive%40mail-archive.com
[issue22931] cookies with square brackets in value
Demian Brecht added the comment: There could be some history behind this that I'm unaware of that I'm not familiar with. From what I can tell, this issue is simply due to the [ character not being in _LegalCharsPatt (http/cookies.py). _LegalCharsPatt actually seems quite a bit more restrictive than it really should be. It's set to r[\w\d!#%'~_`@,:/\$\*\+\-\.\^\|\)\(\?\}\{\=], where RFC 6265 specifies: cookie-pair = cookie-name = cookie-value cookie-name = token cookie-value = *cookie-octet / ( DQUOTE *cookie-octet DQUOTE ) cookie-octet = %x21 / %x23-2B / %x2D-3A / %x3C-5B / %x5D-7E ; US-ASCII characters excluding CTLs, ; whitespace DQUOTE, comma, semicolon, ; and backslash token = token, defined in [RFC2616], Section 2.2 _LegalCharsPatt is used for regex matching on the cookie value, not the key (there is a distinction made between the two). The omission of those characters is correct for the cookie keys, but not the values (RFC 2965 is a little less verbose, but nothing ruling out those characters for values). -- versions: +Python 3.4, Python 3.5, Python 3.6 ___ Python tracker rep...@bugs.python.org http://bugs.python.org/issue22931 ___ ___ Python-bugs-list mailing list Unsubscribe: https://mail.python.org/mailman/options/python-bugs-list/archive%40mail-archive.com
[issue22955] Pickling of methodcaller, attrgetter, and itemgetter
Josh Rosenberg added the comment: I've made a patch that I believe should cover all three cases, including tests. In addition to the pickling behavior, I've made two other changes: 1. methodcaller verifies during construction that the name is a string (PyUnicode), and interns it; attrgetter did this already, and I tweaked methodcaller to match for correctness and performance reasons 2. I added proper repr functionality to all three objects. Partially this is just to make it look nicer, but it was also a decent way to spot verify that the pickle/unpickle sequence behaved correctly Anyone care to review? -- keywords: +patch nosy: +josh.r versions: +Python 3.4 Added file: http://bugs.python.org/file37313/pickle_getter_and_caller.patch ___ Python tracker rep...@bugs.python.org http://bugs.python.org/issue22955 ___ ___ Python-bugs-list mailing list Unsubscribe: https://mail.python.org/mailman/options/python-bugs-list/archive%40mail-archive.com

[issue22955] Pickling of methodcaller, attrgetter, and itemgetter
Josh Rosenberg added the comment: Ah, solved it (I think). The bootstrapper used to import the Python and C versions of the module leaves sys.modules unpopulated (Does pickle itself may populate it when it finds no module of that name?). I added a setUp method to the unittest class for operator that explicitly sets sys.modules['operator'] to whichever version is being tested at the time so pickle's lookup works as expected.
