One extra comment on this...
Firstly make sure you have upgraded to the latest version of MySQLdb - we found earlier versions less than great.
Warning: If you have PHP installed it uses mysql client libraries which are OUT OF DATE - and will cause failures. Remove the php module from the serv
Indeed Im for fixing it...its on my list of things to do...right after

I do believe it should be mod_python that is fixed. I have a VERY big
need for reload of modules *without* taking down my server - end users
are using it and credit card transactions
