Was this before or after the decision to have 2.18 as LTR? As said by

We ordered this dev to Martin, and from the discussion the effort to have
it in 2.18 was not worth it (from our point of view).
I would advise not to spend too much energy into bringing fixes which are
almost "new features" in 2.18.

Hi Victor,
Sounds like a useful improvement for QGIS 2.18 that I'd like to see
back-ported! I think relative-path support should be everywhere. If not,
it can be regarded a bug.
Please make sure they don't break anything in QGIS server!

Not sure if it is supposed to be working in 2.18 (It is not, at the
