Hello, QgsSVGFillSymbolLayer.setSubSymbol() (to put the outline symbol of a polygon) also makes crash QGis. I tested this with linux and windows 7. I've found a workaround with QgsMarkerLineSymbolLayer.createFromSld(). This does work from within a python plugin.
