Re: [Qgis-developer] Warning - shapefile corruption on 2.16/master and how to recover
I just ran a test Ubuntu Linux QGIS 2.16.2 Shapefile with 925,000+ polygons I opened the attribute table which took a bit. Started editing. Split 5 polygons. Saved. Stopped editing. Removed the layer. Added it back - it didn't corrupt. I'm wondering if I should have done something more deliberate like delete or add more polygons. Purely a QGIS thing, but not completely internal in the meaning that it can be used by code building a connection string (eg in unit tests) and it is actually documented in http://qgis.org/api/classQgsVectorLayer.html#details So if we wanted to change that we should probably accept the old value as well. Re: [Qgis-developer] Warning - shapefile corruption on 2.16/master and how to recover
There was another report of Shapefile corruption earlier with 2.14 which I thought it could be side effects of the solution for #11007: http://hub.qgis.org/issues/15407 Cheers, Saber -Original Message- From: Qgis-developer [mailto:qgis-developer-boun...@lists.osgeo.org] On Behalf Of Giovanni Manghi Sent: 16 September 2016 09:55 To: qgis-developer@lists.osgeo.org Subject: Re: [Qgis-developer] Warning - shapefile corruption on 2.16/master and how to recover Hi all, > While I've hit this issue maybe 3 or 4 times in the last 2 months, I > haven't been able to track down exactly what causes this. Re: [Qgis-developer] Qgis donload entire postgis data table (with geom?) opening attribute table
@Nyall Thanks, it would be nice if it will be fixed in next releases.. Other nice thing would be the possibility to select if we want to fetch the geometry column, and which geometry column opening attribute table.. A user could add more than a single geometry column in a postgis table, for example full resolution- half, a quarter etc.. with a trigger to update the lower resolution ones after a geometry update. This could be usefull in web publishing applications.. Now we are using Lizmap and I create some materialized views to create visualization by scale in my project. Having more than one geometry column (not fetched loading attribute table) could lower the mess and maintenance (refresh materialized views etc).. @DelazJ Thanks, I didn't see it Anyway selecting "Plain text, no geometry" don't fix the fetching of the geometry column opening attribute table and copy/paste it.. Hi, Pietro, the WKT option is still available in Settings --> Options --> Data Sources, and in the listbox "copy features as", select "Plain text, no geometry".
