Hi Andreas,
There have been no donors coming forward from the general email I sent out to
the lists but I am in the process of asking an organisation here in the UK

Dear list,
We are looking to embark on a project to make rendering in QGIS multi-threaded,
boosting rendering performance and reducing drawing times. I’m turning to the
list to see if this is something that any of you (or any organisations you
know) would be interested in co-funding.
In addition to Peter’s email, it is worth noting that we are aiming to include
the feature in the next release. Martin will be leading the development.
Kind regards,
Saber
