Hi all, 

-1 from me to have it enabled by default. Imho It's not a common tool every one 
needs (a niche usage) and as Luigi says, no need to clutter toolbars and menus. 
I can as well find other Core plugins that would deserve being on by default. 
Imho, people should learn that besides QGIS "visible" tools, there are also 
tools they can call "on-demand" and acquire the reflex of checking the 
"Plugins"menu and discover the wonderful world behind.

If you go with 2.18, you don't need any of these plugins, as QGIS 2.18
has *native* support for XYZ layers which is much more robust than
plugins.

I just installed 2.14.9 on CentOS 7 and watched the 30 minute tutorial to get
myself going since I have never used a GIS application before.

I'm looking for plugins to give me the "Web" menu and the base maps from
Google, Openstreetmaps and the likes, but I only see 10 or 12 plugins and
neither of the 2 mentioned in the video for accessing this information :
Open Layers or QuickMapServices.

The Clipper dialog is missing GUI options to set the compression. In the
box at the bottom, edit the command to add the following "-co
COMPRESS=DEFLATE -co PREDICTOR=2 -co ZLEVEL=9"

That will apply compression to the output.

[Qgis-user] New User: Cropping makes HUGE files (and I know about COMPRESS-LZW)

Hi all, I have a very specific problem I'm attempting to solve, and I'm sad
to say it has defeated me.

What I am trying to do is generate a 3D model of the terrain relief in a
certain area so that it can be fed into a CNC machine for subsequent
carving.

So then, step 1 - get a DEM GEOTIFF from EarthExplorer: done.

Here's the thumbnail

(but I have the actual GEOTIFF too - I know that the thumbnail is not the
GEOTIFF)

Now what I need to do is crop the area covered by the GEOTIFF down to the
roughly 4 sq km area I want to model.

So I downloaded and installed qgis for Linux. Add new raster layer using
the downloaded GEOTIFF, and that comes in fine.

Problem: I can't narrow down the exact area I need. So I installed the
OpenStreetMap plugin and added an OSM layer. Happily, the OSM layer and the
GEOTIFF raster layer line up as expected. So I'm able to adjust the zoom
window to the area I want to carve.

I go to Raster: Extraction: Clipper. Input file is the downloaded DEM
GEOTIFF. Output file is a filename I pick for the extract. I select the
area I want, and I see that it builds a command line for gdal_translate
accordingly. OK, I get it, QGIS is a graphical front end for command line
tools - that's a common Linux method for building applications. Seen that
before. No worries.

So then I execute, and after 10 minutes, it still isn't done, and the file
it is building is almost a gigabyte in size.

Stop process, google for "qgis extract huge files" and I find that the
issue is likely compressed vs uncompressed TIFF, and there are a couple of
options to feed gdal_translate to turn on compression (via the little
pencil icon) OK, add that, and set it off.

Come back an hour later, still not done, and the file is 150 Gb in size.

Something is not right. The base GEOTIFF is 25 Mb. A drastically cropped
version - even uncompressed - should not be that large.

Io ho una versione 3.1.0 funzionante su un server Debian8 senza interfaccia
grafica e la stampa funziona!

I followed that thread, and it did provide a work around.  
For anyone else who runs into this...I just tried to create an identical CRS to 
the actual one, but without "+nadgrids=@null”.  I then set the source for my 
image to use that custom CRS and now it does display in the correct location.

[Qgis-user] 3D Surfaces in QGIS3

One of the features that I was most excited about for QGIS3 was 3D views.  One 
of my projects has 3D polygons above the ground elevation surface, and I was 
hoping to display them in QGIS. 
I figured out that I need to change the layer properties->3D View and Enable 3D 
render.  Now, it does display the polygon in space.  But, the polygon is always 
fully opaque.  If I change the layer opacity, it does change the opacity of the 
projection of the polygon on the ground, but not of the actual polygon in 
space.  
Is there anyway to change the opacity of the polygon in 3D space, so I can see 
the ground through it?

If you are using windows I believe pandas is available as a library with 
osgeo4w (https://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo4w/ticket/472).  I guess the question 
relates to the Windows standalone installer?

I think you're mixing some things up -- there's no such thing as a
"QGIS python distribution".

If you're running a linux distro then python libraries can be
installed using your normal distro package installer. If instead
you're referring to the Windows build then you'll need to raise this
with the osgeo4w project and get pandas packaged there.

If you're using a mac... I'd just dual boot and save yourself a
billion issues and much frustation.*

non ho detto questo; essere ci sono, solo va verificato bene se hanno
licenze compatibili con l'uso che ne vuoi fare, e magari per la
redistribuzione via Resource Manager

[Qgis-user] Simple QGIS KML/KMZ Import

The challenge with KML imports is that its free form nature makes it
difficult to conform to a table. I have large KMLs with nested folder
structures. I find that these large KMLs crash QGIS if I try to import the
entire thing and then each point gets rendered as a separate layer.

It wouldn't be hard to write a script that just pulls out all the
placemarks and writes them to a point layer, lines to a line layer, and
polygons to a polygon layer. What I would loose is the folder structure and
styling, but I could easily process large KMLs. I could consider a field in
the layers that would be a string of the nested folders that each point,
line, polygon were in.

Would this be of interest as a plugin? Is anyone doing this already? There
doesn't appear to be anything in the plugin repository.

ho appena installato un'istanza di QGIS Server con Lizmap su server Ubuntu
16.04.

Tutto sembra funzionare correttamente e velocemente tranne la funzione
stampa del progetto che mi da errore 500 del Server e nel log di Lizmap ho
questa riga:

si spero questa sia la versione più felice della storia.

Però con la crisi in cui versano i tecnici non penso sia questa
l'evoluzione più probabile.

Per come é scritto l'articolo aumentiamo gli utenti che non contribuiscono
né al codice perché inesperti né al finanziamento perché sembra che sia
tutto dovuto (nella guida si parla di open source senza dire cosa sia).

come da oggetti cercavo dei simboli svg precotti per flora, fauna e beni
culturali.
Quello che cercavo erano simboli abbastanza specifici per singole specie o
edifici.

Qualcuno conosce qualche repo carino?

[QGIS-it-user] lizmap errore cache e lentezza

[SC]

Salve ho notato una strana lentezza su un lizmap server (linux ubuntu 
14.04 )ospitato su aruba cloud,


mi da spesso questo errore

php-apache2handler-webgis.sit-sglapunta.it[10020]: 
{"NAME":"LIZMAP_SERVICE_GETMAP","RESPONSE_TIME":226.05895996094,"CACHE_STATUS":"off"}



pensavo dipendesse dal modulo cache ma dopo aver abilitato il file cache 
di apache e di lizmap  l'errore continua e non da altro


cosa potrebbe essere?

thanks for your answer! Yes looks like there is no other way but passing empty 
strings. That’s what I wanted to avoid but anyway.

[QGIS-it-user] Info PlugIn Form Value Relation

Buongiorno a tutti,
vorrei sapere se qualcuno utilizza il plugIn Form Value Relation e ha notizie 
su un possibile upgrade alla versione QGis3.

In caso contrario se qualcuno potrebbe darmi qualche consiglio su come ovviare 
alla mancanza di tale pluglin per la versione 3 di Qgis

[Qgis-user] QGIS-Server: How support label in map-unit in both epsg:4326 and other projected srs

Hi,
I notice that QGIS when rendering a map in a projected srs and has labels
in map-unit need a value like (as example) "7" this need "do a label of 7
and scale it using the scale value.


But when the project is in epsg:4326 (a decimal degree unit system).
The value for the dimension of the labl in map-unit need to be more lower.
Infact using a value like 7 simply is too big and the label do not appear.

Instead appear if I use a value like 0,0004.

These difference are a big trouble when we pass to qgis-server.

Infact a wms allow the requests of map in a projected srs but also in a
geographical srs like epsg:4326.

These mean that a project server with qgis-server , in the label compoenent
dont work both in projected srs and decimal degree srs.

Should need a workaround to change the dimension of label when the user
request switch from a projected to a geographicsl srs.

So I like to know if someone has found some workaround to have this switch
automatically.

you can do it like this example which only makes a sum of 2 values. Two 
aruments or only one...:

@qgsfunction(-1, 'Python')
def add_values( values, feature, parent):
if len(values) == 2:
return values[0]+values[1]
elif len(values) == 1:
return values[0]+5

@qgsfunction(-1, 'Python') says that you will pass a list of arguments 
and the function will be in the Python rider.
In the code, you can check the number of arguments with getting the 
length of the list, and then use your default values...

d'accordissimo al 100%

questo dovremmo fare come gruppo, raccogliere fondi per diventare sponsor di
QGIS
in questa ML siamo circa 300, per diventare sponsor di bronzo occorrono 500
€, basterebbe donare 2 € a testa.

[QGIS-it-user] Modulo network analisys/routing

Ciao a tutti,
in QGIS ho disegnato uno schema di collegamenti (tipo CAD) che rappresenta
circuiti elettrici.
Lo schema è costituito da elementi puntuali e lineari, con attributi
alfanumerici associati.

Il punto iniziale ed il punto finale sono collegati tramite 1 o più linee,
disegnate con snap (sono presenti punti intermedi).
Ad esempio:

CIRCUITO A:
 X--X-X-X
P1  L1  P2L2  P3   L3   P4

​CIRCUITO B:​
​ X---X-X
P5  L4   P6L5  P7


Avendo selezionato il punto iniziale, vorrei determinare qual è l'insieme
delle linee che realizzano il collegamento ed eventualmente qual è il punto
finale.

Premesso che è da poco che uso QGIS, sono disponibili funzioni "native" di
network analisys/routing?
Potete suggerirmi un plug-ins per network analisys?

Attualmente utilizzo QGIS 3.0 ma potrei installare una versione precedente.

forse è un'idea bislacca e incasina la vita agli admins della pagina del
gruppo GIS Italia su fb:

se chiediamo ad ogni iscritto al gruppo (3363 membri alle 10:40 del 09 MAR
2018) 10 € e poi, in forma di associazione, tra amici, come società
virtuale (comunque da pensare bene bene e legale) si sovvenziona qualche
progetto e sviluppo?

Se è una caxxata, cestinate subito...senza rancore.

Avrei bisogno di un parere sulla traduzione della parte riguardante la
libreria dei simboli (mi sa che mis sono messa a tradurre proprio una parte
un po' rognosetta)

Primo problema tra tutti:
poiché in Italiano l'unica traduzione possibile per il simbolo  "Marker" è
appunto "Simbolo" (come effettivamente tradotto nella GUI), nella
traduzione del manuale si ingenera una confusione laddove la parola
"symbol" non si riferisce a "Marker" ma genericamente al simbolo usato.
Propenderei quindi per tradurre "Symbol" con "simbologia" in tutti questi
casi, e con "Simbolo" solo nei casi in cui si riferisce a "Marker"
Potrebbe andar bene?

Altra libertà che mi prenderei, conseguente alla precedente:
**Marker** for point symbolstrad.**Simbolo** per vettori di tipo
puntuale
**Line** for line symbols  trad.**Linea** per vettori di tipo
lineare
**Riempimento** for surface symbolstrad.**Riempimento** per vettori
di tipo poligonale

Questo renderebbe anche più chiaro per un nuovo utente la relazione tra
tipo di vettore e simbologia (nonché l'utilità del geometry generator
spiegato in seguito)

Io procederei in questo modo (in ogni caso mi segno tutte le stringhe dei
dubbi in modo da poterle cambiare se è il caso)

Non ho nulla contro gli sviluppatori del plug-in QMS.

concordo in parte. Nel senso: assolutissimamente, per una miriade di
ragioni, è meglio promuore codice core per un'altra miriade di ragioni.

La cosa che mi fa pensare è un tweet fatto oggi da Lutra (ovvero da chi
ha creato l'alternativa nativa a QMS con i servizi di Tile) in cui
promuoveva la campagna di raccolta fondi di QMS, durante il FOSS4GUK

ovviamente ben vengano le regole di divulgazione che il mio post ha
fatto scaturire, e a cui concorderò senza nessunissimo problema.

Quindi concludo dicendo: buttiamo giù due regole a cui faremo
riferimento, però quello che non vorrei è "impedire" la divulgazione di
un plugin/funzione/qualunquecosa che potrebbe essere utile a migliaia di
utenti anche se risulta inutle alla maggior parte di noi (chissà quanta
gente usa ancora TableManger invece di RefactorFields giusto per dirne una).



Siamo una comunità fichissima. Viva QGIS!

[Qgis-user] QGIS custom python function with zero or more args

Hi all,

I would like to write a custom python function for QGIS 2.18 that takes zero or 
one argument. The reason is that in most cases I can use a default value in the 
function, in some cases I would like to enter the value as argument. For python 
I know that you can prefix args in functions to make them optional, e.g. def 
func(*arg). For QGIS functions this will not work because there always have to 
be the args feature and parent in last two positions. Has anyone experience 
with QGIS functions that take zero or more arguments? Thanks for any help!
