ho notato una comportamento insolito di Qgis.
Ho elaborato un DEM in 3004 e l'ho condiviso ad un collega.
Quando il mio collega lo ha caricato, tale dem non era posizionato nel
punto dove doveva essere ma era sparato nell'Atlantico.
Dopo vari tentativi, settando il SR in 3857
I created a layer of 10,000 random points. Using timezonefinder to look up
each point took 44 seconds. I tried using *Vector->Geoprocessing
Tools->Intersection...* to find the time zones for each of the points and
it took over 4 minutes.

Perhaps not exactly what you want - but did you also look at the point
cluster renderer?
If you use that, points are clustered at small map scales, but are shown
individually if you zoom in further.
It might help a bit in your situation.

Yes, there are (were?) some glitches while working with geopackages. But a
lot of fixes and improvements have been made in recent releases.
I remember a thread in a mailing list about the fid annoyances, but I am
not sure what was the decision.
