You should manually fix extent. You have to look for strings $EXTMIN and
$EXTMAX and correct the actual extent values Xmin, Ymin, Zmin, Xmax,
Ymax, Zmax. I soppose Zmin and Zmax are "0" (without quotes).

30 Zmin

When I run QGIS 1.7.4 on my laptop I receive the following splash screen:
"QGIS couldn't find your Grass installation. Would you like to specify path
(GISBASE) to your GRASS installation?"
I have tried various solutions, however no joy as yet.
